Sarah Edge has been working in Optical practices since 1978. She qualified as a Dispensing Optician and Contact Lens Optician in 1981 and has lived near Eccleshall for over 35 years. Sarah has brought up 3 children while continuing to work as a Dispensing Optician. She has an interest in Low Vision Aids. In her spare time Sarah enjoys tennis, gardening and walking her dog. She has recently discovered an interest in foreign travel. She and Jan Goodwin have been directors of Mincher-Lockett Opticians with practices in Stafford and Gnosall since 2006.

Jan Goodwin studied for a degree in Ophthalmic Optics at Aston University from 1985 to 1998 and passed British College of Optometrists professional exams to qualify as an Optometrist in 1989. Since then she has worked in both independent and high street optical practices before setting up in business with Sarah Edge in 2006. She has two grown-up children and has a particular interest in helping children and adults with specific reading difficulties. Jan also enjoys travelling both in the U.K. and abroad, keeping fit, walking, cooking and reading. 

Our professional staff are Paul Lee, Catherine Curtis and Emma Fawcett. Paul and Catherine are both experienced Optometrists who keep up-to-date with new developments in the world of eye care through regular training.  Emma is a Pre-reg Dispensing Optician. 

Paul Lee has been working with Jan and Sarah in their Mincher-Lockett Opticians practices in Stafford and Gnosall since 2011.  He qualified in 1997 after completing his Optometry degree at  Aston University in Birmingham.  He has lived in the Stafford area since childhood and is a keen Stafford Rangers supporter. Paul has a particular interest in nutrition for eye health.  He has qualifications for Minor Eye Conditions Service, Glaucoma referral refinement and Post-operative cataract assessment as well as being  experienced in contact lens fitting and dry eye assessment.

Catherine Curtis is new to our team in 2019.  She now lives in Stafford with her husband having grown up in Cannock.  Catherine qualified as an Optometrist in 2007.  In recent years she has been working in domiciliary eyecare. Catherine is a keen runner and has completed 1 full marathon and approaching 20 half marathons. She also likes walking, working out in the gym and has recently taken up crochet! 

Emma Fawcett is nearing completion of her Ophthalmic Dispensing degree for which she has been studying while working for Jan and Sarah in Stafford. In 2018 her dissertation on Collagen cross-linking  for Keratoconus was published in the Dispensing Optics Review magazine. She joined us in 2011 and has completed levels 2 and 3 diplomas in Optical Practice Support with The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers prior to starting her degree course. Emma moved to Malcolm Gray and Associates in 2018 after the sad loss of Vik Shaw and has been warmly welcomed by staff and patients alike.  When not working or studying Emma enjoys seeing family and friends and walking her Dachshund Ruby.

Our Reception and Clinical Assistant staff are Kate Kennett, Louise Fenton, Ruth Johnson and Vicky Strophair. They are always happy to help you and deal with any queries you have.

Kate Kennett lives in Stafford with her husband and 2 children. She started working at the practice in April 2011 and qualified as a diabetic retinal screening photographer in 2015. She has also completed eye health training in dry eye and blepharitis with Spectrum Thea. Kate works 3 days per week and combines family duties with keeping fit.  Kate is a contact lens wearer and also likes to keep up to date with the latest fashion in spectacle frames.

Louise Fenton  has been a valued member of our team since she joined the practice in 2009. She now works 2-3 days per week. Louise qualified as a diabetic retinal screening photographer in 2015 and has also completed eye health training in dry eye and blepharitis with Spectrum Thea. In her spare time she enjoys walking with her family.

Ruth Johnson joined us in January 2019. She grew up in the local area before moving to the west of Scotland with her husband where she brought up her children and trained as a nurse. Now returned to Eccleshall, she is now looking forward to a new challenge and to meeting our patients and customers old and new. Her hobbies include walking, swimming and art.

Vicky Strophair joined the business in 2015 as maternity cover in but quickly made herself indispensable. She works in our two Mincher-Lockett Opticians practices in Stafford and Gnosall as well as at Malcolm Gray in Eccleshall. Vicky enjoys working with our clients, helping to choose frames and assemble and fit spectacles as well as dealing with administration and answering queries. She has completed a qualification as an Optical Clinical Assistant with the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers. Vicky enjoys swimming, walking on Cannock Chase and spending time with her family.
